PARROT STUDY
Out-puzzle your friends. Claim glory. Win prizes.
You will complete a short survey and a practice round, and then encounter a series of puzzles with a partner!
Format
You'll be playing NYT Connections–like puzzles... but with a twist: you'll be solving with a partner!
You'll be able to communicate with your partner over chat. Be friendly! Puzzles are for fun, after all! :D
Here's how to play:
1. Each round shows sixteen words on a grid; find four groups of four that share a hidden theme. Tap or click four words to submit a guess for a group. You may unselect words as well.
2. When you're correct, those words lock into a colored group based on difficulty in increasing order: yellow, green, blue, then purple.
3. In the real NYT Connections game, you get four wrong guesses before the puzzle ends. We are giving you ten tries, because you'll be collaborating with others. :)
4. Try to solve as many puzzles as possible! The more puzzles you solve with less guesses, the higher your score!
Purple tiles merge into one strip while bottom-row tiles move up to fill gaps at the same time; the category appears on that strip, then the board settles to three rows above it.
Scoring
Leaderboard scores are based on accuracy (number of guesses) and speed (time to solve the puzzle)! Both you and your partner will receive the same score, but will show up on the leaderboard separately.
Leaderboard: four players with decreasing scores; coral_phase appears at the bottom, then moves to first place and stays.
